What should a photograph be? Should it be overly-posed with false lighting and a painfully fake backdrop? I do not believe that anyone should pay hundreds of dollars to receive a photo that looks like any other. Make a little boy sit on a cloth-covered table and you might get a cute smile...but let him run freely at the lake and I can capture that gleeful moment that he discovers a ladybug or frog. You can pose a little girl prettily with her chin resting on her fist...but I can capture her spinning dreamily under a canopy of dogwoods. A mother's gentle touch, a father's quiet pride, the joyful new love of an engaged couple, a new graduate's excitement -- these are the emotions that turn an ordinary photograph into a treasured heirloom.
Snap the Spontaneous
I believe in creating a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere because the best pictures often happen spontaneously. Bring silly or serious props, make funny faces, roll in the grass....I will capture it all! The most important part of a successful session is having fun and snapping that photo at the perfect time to create an evocative portrait.
